THINGS TO DO
MAPUTO ELEPHANT RESERVE
A short drive north will take you to the rugged and unspoiled Maputo Elephant Reserve, where – if you’re lucky – you will catch a glimpse of the elusive elephants (numbering 200 at last count), some of which boast tusks that rival the biggest in the Kruger National Park.
Part of the Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area, the Reserve is also home to zebra, duiker and other small antelope, crocodiles and hippos, as well as a wide variety of birdlife.
Witnessing the beauty of Africa’s wildlife within teeming bushveld lined by the white sands of the pristine Mozambican coast is an experience not to be missed.
