THINGS TO DO
PUBS
There are pubs aplenty in Ponta do Ouro. Fernando’s is famous for its legendary R&R (a potent mix of rum and Raspberry Sparletta) and the Beach Bar is widely acclaimed for its refreshing lime-based Caipirinha cocktail, and there are many other welcoming venues where you can enjoy an ice-cold 2M or Laurentina beer and gaze over the ocean.
The road between Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane boasts a number of rustic pubs, and it’s well worth choosing a designated driver and going for a 4x4 pub crawl to take in the atmosphere. Pinto’s Place is not to be missed.
The same road will take you to Jenny’s Bar with its elevated deck offering a stunning panoramic view of the Indian Ocean. Be sure to try her exceptional prawn rissoles and home-made chilli sauce.
There is also a bottle store in the town square if you’d prefer to stock up Planet Scuba’s fridge and simply chill out on the deck with a drink and a good book, looking up occasionally to remind yourself that you’re in paradise.
