THINGS TO DO

SWIMMING WITH DOLPHINS

Ponta do Ouro
is blessed with resident and semi-resident pods of bottlenose dolphins, and these magnificent creatures regularly come close into the bay and interact with human visitors.

Planet Scuba partners with Ethical Marine Mammal Tourism to offer you a truly unforgettable encounter with one of the most intelligent and graceful animals on the planet.

Guided by the widely respected duo of founder Angie Gullan and biologist Diana Rocha, a Dolphin Encounter allows you to swim with dolphins and includes a pre-training snorkeling and safety workshop, roughly six hours at sea over a three-day period, an ecology and wild dolphin behaviour introduction and a gift pack. Alternatively, why not choose a boat-based Dolphin Safari which offers boat-based dolphin & whale viewing (in season) with possible in-water dolphin observation, shallow reef snorkeling (depending on visibility and sea conditions), opportunistic sightings of whale sharks and manta rays, and a safety and ecology presentation.

You may be lucky enough to encounter dolphins while snorkeling on your own in the bay. If so, we ask you to treat them with the respect they deserve, and avoid touching them, chasing them or swimming with newborns.
